Arizpe Ellinwood
Arizpe was born and raised in Tucson, Arizona and is a University of Arizona alumni. She holds two degrees from the Mel & Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health (MEZCOPH) - a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Public Health with an emphasis in Health Behavior Health Promotion and a Master of Public Health (MPH) in Family & Child Health, Maternal & Child Health. During her time at the University of Arizona, Arizpe completed two internships – one as an undergraduate intern with Campus Health Services (CHS) Health Promotion and Preventive Services (HPPS) working on programs and events like SexTalk Week, Free Condom Friday, and Stessbusters, and the other as a graduate internship with the Consortium on Gender Based Violence (CGBV) creating and implementing a social media and marketing strategy for Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM). Arizpe was a volunteer with the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona from 2016-2020 delivering nutrition education to youth and families during food distribution events and afterschool programs, in addition to facilitating grocery store tours for Spanish-speaking adults. Among other endeavors, Arizpe has worked in the Tucson community as a Health Education Specialist for the Southern Arizona AIDS Foundation (SAAF), as a Substitute Teacher for Tucson Unified School District (TUSD), and as an Outreach Instructional Specialist on the Safer Bars Research Study at the University of Arizona. Arizpe has seven years of facilitation experience and many years of working with youth in educational settings, including classrooms, afterschool programs, and community spaces. Her areas of interest and experience include sexual health education, substance misuse prevention, HIV prevention, nutrition education, and youth education.
Arizpe is new to SIROW, joining the team in July 2024 working as a Health Educator for the Spectrum+ Program focused on delivering sexuality education, mental health services, and HIV/HCV prevention education to LGBTQ+ youth of color between the ages of 12-24 years old across Pima and Maricopa counties.
