New SIROW Publication on Diversion Programs!

Check out the newly published commentary authored by SIROW Director Dr. Josephine Korchmaros and her colleague Kevin Hall, Assistant Chief of the Tucson Police Department. This commentary, published in the Journal of Law, Medicine & Ethics, advances the discussion of diversion programs. Diversion programs that utilize the police and courts to connect people who have substance use issues to treatment while minimizing justice involvement and incarceration are an important strategy for addressing substance abuse. Dr. Korchmaros’ and Assistant Chief Hall’s commentary advances the discussion presented in an article by Ariturk and colleagues.
