New Report on Homelessness Needs and Available Services from SIROW Researchers!!

A plethora of research led by SIROW faculty, Keith Bentele and Sara Shuman, affirms the effectiveness of resource allocation towards homelessness prevention. In a recent report published under the Tucson Pima Collaboration to End Homelessness (TPCH), Bentele and Shuman document an increased inflow into homelessness for Pima County that shows no signs of slowing; meanwhile the number of assisted housing units available are dwindling. With needs surging and supply suffering, 72% of people seeking homeless services in 2023 were not served any type of housing. While federal initiatives supporting homelessness prevention may look bleak, local authorities have the ability to reprioritize the allocation of resources to center the needs of families at risk.
