Monica Davis
For nearly 20 years Monica Davis has conducted training, taught, and managed projects that promote health and social justice for women, families and youth in Southern Arizona. Monica has extensive experience working with a variety of topic areas and populations including people experiencing homelessness, women, and youth. During her tenure at the University of Arizona’s Southwest Institute for Research on Women (SIROW), she has worked on over 10 state, private, and federally-funded projects and has been involved in multiple national cross-site evaluations inclusive of both qualitative and quantitative research methods.
Her professional experience has focused on HIV/AIDS, unintended teen pregnancy, and substance use treatment and prevention. Monica has developed and implemented sexual health education curricula that is culturally, developmentally and age appropriate as well as trauma-informed for systems-involved youth and caregivers. Monica is also an advocate for sexual violence awareness and prevention. She is bilingual/bicultural and has adapted and implemented curricula for women and adolescents in Mexico. Monica has presented on body image and self-esteem for young women and girls and has facilitated groups for women empowerment. In her work, Monica has established collaborations between local community, county, state, national and federal organizations.
