Alison Greene
Alison Greene, Ph.D. is a research affiliate of the University of Arizona's Southwest Institute for Research on Women (SIROW). Dr. Greene also hold a faculty appointment as an assistant professor at Indiana's University's School of Public Health in the Department of Applied Health Science.
In 2005, Dr. Greene joined SIROW and has designed, implemented, and evaluated national and local externally-funded projects that served adolescents in traditionally underserved communities. As a health Intervention researcher, Dr. Greene's work is focused in the areas of sexuality education; integration of health and treatment modalities; adolescent health-related behavior change; community health interventions and partnerships; group-based health disparities; process evaluation; and, systems improvement. Dr. Greene utilizes a participatory action approach to better understand research outcomes in order to promote health behaviors and to mitigate the harmful effects of substance abuse, trauma, risky sex behaviors, criminal justice involvement, and health disparities among marginalized groups.
Currently, Dr. Greene is the project director for Bridges to Wellness (B-Well), a SAMHSA-CSAP funded project which is utilizing a collaborative approach, evidence-based practices, and community-based strategies to prevent HIV, viral hepatitis, and substance use among system-involved youth (i.e., youth involved in behavioral health system, criminal justice system, and/or child welfare system).
