Jackson Wray

Jackson has worked as a Queer and Transgender advocate, educator, and organizer in Tucson since their time as a McNair Scholar at the University of Arizona. They come to SIROW after five plus years of advocacy and coordinating work with Queer, Transgender, and people of color (POC) youth at the Eon Youth Program at Wingspan and Southern Arizona AIDS Foundation. Past initiatives include support and triage for housing instable transitional age youth and young adults through Eon’s Homeless Youth Project. Similarly, Jackson served as the Outreach Specialist and HIV counselor/tester for SIROW’s past LGBTQ+ grant-funded ANCHOR Project. Joining SIROW in Spring 2019 as a Senior Instructional Specialist with the Lighthouse Project, Jackson coordinates project engagements, facilitates wellness and recovery support groups, and provides housing support services to program participants. Within the larger Tucson Community Jackson continues to collaborate on projects with the University of Arizona Museum of Art and Museum of Contemporary Art. This includes facilitating an Intergenerational Queer Arts Program, Stay Gold and facilitating Minor Mutiny, an after school teen arts program, as well as Made For Flight workshops.
