Tamara Sargus

About Tamara Sargus

Tamara Sargus has over 20 years of experience working with various topic areas and populations including women, children and youth, LGBTQ, and criminal justice. During her tenure at the University of Arizona’s Southwest Institute for Research on Women (SIROW), she has worked on over 6 state, private, and federally-funded projects inclusive of both qualitative and quantitative research methods.

Her professional skills are focused on violence against women, substance use, child welfare, lay-legal advocacy, and justice reform. Prior to joining SIROW, Tamara worked in the child welfare field promoting advocacy services for youth and families involved in child abuse/neglect cases.  Tamara is an advocate for child abuse and relationship violence awareness and system improvement.  She has served on several committees which promote child welfare and domestic violence policy and practice reform.

Tamara is currently the Evaluation Coordinator for the Bridges to Wellness (B-Well) project which focusses on substance use and sexual risk prevention for system-involved youth.  She is also working on the Juvenile Justice Initiative Project which is evaluates laws, policies, and practices affecting juvenile justice involved youth.
