SIROW was well represented at the 9th annual InWomen’s Group Conference in Palm Springs, CA

SIROW staff Claudia Powell, Katie Haverly, Monica Davis, Ian Ellasante, Kristen Gautier-Downes, and Sally Stevens traveled to Palm Springs, CA for the 9th annual InWomen’s Group Conference on June 10, 2016. The International Women’s and Children’s Health and Gender (InWomen’s) Group, chaired by Dr. Wendee Wechsberg of RTI International, is a multidisciplinary forum addressing all aspects of substance use among women, children, and youth. The InWomen’s Group began meeting virtually and in person in 2007 and now consists of more than 200 members from over 40 countries worldwide.

Claudia Powell delivered a presentation sharing findings from the iTEAM and Anchor projects entitled Women in Crisis: Addressing Substance Use Disparities and Risks Facing Transgender Women in a panel session entitled “Young, Women, Adolescents, and Transgender Individuals”. Katie Haverly presented a poster on the JDCRF cross-site analysis entitled Addressing Gender-Based Differences in Victimization and Substance Use Among Justice-Involved Youth.  Monica Davis also presented a poster sharing findings from the JDCRF project entitled Key Findings of the National Cross-Site Evaluation of Juvenile Drug Courts.
