About Nancy Freitas
Nancy is a native Tucsonan and received her B.S. in Environmental Science with a concentration in Environmental Change from the University of Arizona. She served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Paraguay where she worked on Environmental Conservation, and has recently joined WISE as a Program Coordinator for The Bio/Diversity Project. She is working alongside the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, the Friends of Saguaro National Park, and the National Park Service to help diversify the voices involved in the discussions of the problems and solutions involved in environmental science. Nancy will be partnering UA undergraduate students with K-12 schools to assist in the development and implementation of environmental science curricula that is both place-based and identity-based for all participating students. This biodiversity-focused program will run through 2018.
For fun, Nancy loves to compete in club-level Ultimate Frisbee tournaments, as well as play in the local Tucson Ultimate league. She is coaching the University of Arizona Women’s Ultimate team for the 2016-2017 school year.
